Three Trees

March 31, 2024 Easter Pastor Dan Wagner 0

Application

  • God acts as High Priest, performs the first sin offering for man, and clothes man with the animal skin from the sacrificed animals, showing His character and nature in His desire to forgive sin and setting in motion the Plan of Salvation which already is “signed, sealed, and delivered” in the mind of God.
  • The tree of life always has been a part of God’s plan, but every natural-born human is stuck at the tree of the knowledge of good and evil—infected with Adam’s rebellion and separated from fellowship with God—destined for “the lake of fire that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
  • Anyone can claim to be Messiah, the Christ, the Savior, the God-Man. Anyone can lay down his life for another. Only taking up His life again proves that the sacrifice of Jesus actually pays the sin-debt!
  • Conclusion: Without the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ no one goes from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil beyond the cross of Jesus to obtain the tree of life.

Bible Text

Eph. 1:4 (NASB) just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.

1Cor. 2:7 (NASB) but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory;

2Thes. 2:13 (NASB) But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

2Tim. 1:9 (NASB) who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,

1Pe. 1:20-21 (NASB) (20) For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you (21) who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

Rev. 13:8 (NASB) All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain.
