A great many people, both before Jonah and after Jonah, have attempted to “flee from the LORD’s presence” unsuccessfully. As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, do we want to “go through the wash and spin cycle” and spit back “to the beginning”? God’s sovereignty can do that any and every day of the week!
While grace is quite foreign to the Fallen Nature, the LORD’s extreme grace is an inextricable part of who He is and how He operates.
Conclusion: The LORD extends His extreme grace to all people everywhere over and over and over, day after day after day, but not forever. We all have an obligation to the LORD to respond to Him before He closes the door to us forever—with no chance for Him to reopen it.

(2:10) Then the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.

(3:1) Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time, saying, (2) “Arise, go to Nineveh the great city and proclaim to it the proclamation which I am going to tell you.” (3) So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, a three days’ walk. (4) Then Jonah began to go through the city one day’s walk; and he cried out and said, “Yet forty days and Nineveh will be overthrown.”
