Restoration Planned
Application
- The Plan of Salvation parallels the creation account: natural-born humans begin physical life in spiritual darkness; while we do nothing, the LORD brings us light, interrupting our sleep, and the saved go out to work with a heart of gratitude for what the LORD accomplished for them and in them.
- Once again, the LORD has His provision to meet needs before we know we have them.
- The “success or failure” does not come with Ruth’s action, and it is not Ruth’s responsibility. She must wait for someone else to act on her behalf.
- Conclusion: Ruth’s faith in the LORD was established while still in Moab. Ruth’s integrity seems well known within Bethlehem, and Ruth’s work-ethic also has been proven. Now we see a restored Naomi counseling Ruth from a heart of love seeking Levirate Marriage in order to restore Ruth to family inheritance.
Bible Text
(1) Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek security for you, that it may be well with you? (2) Now is not Boaz our kinsman, with whose maids you were? Behold, he winnows barley at the threshing floor tonight. (3) Wash yourself therefore, and anoint yourself and put on your best clothes, and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking. (4) It shall be when he lies down, that you shall notice the place where he lies, and you shall go and uncover his feet and lie down; then he will tell you what you shall do.” (5) She said to her, “All that you say I will do.”
